THE BIG TEN
Legends Division

  • IOWA HAWKEYES

Sharp looking uniforms. Love them. Stay classy, Iowa.

  • MICHIGAN WOLVERINES
While, not making much sense (wolverines don't have "wings"), this is one of the most iconic uniforms in all of football. Don't change, Wolverines.

  • MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS

Love these uniforms. Great logo. Great colors. Good look. I could live without the alternate home jersey, though. The white shoulders are definitely not needed (Along with the green on the away). And the center stripe of the helmet should be smaller. But, really not bad.

And here's a closer look at the logo:

Nice.
Spartans?! What is your occupation?!?
Looking gooooooood!

  • MINNESOTA GOLDEN GOPHERS

I like these unis. There are too many of them, but the basic look is nice. If they would just stick with the burgundy over gold they would score higher in my eyes. Over all, though, I'm impressed. Cool helmets, too, with a cool logo.

Not crazy about the matte finish a lot of schools have gone to now, but I can live with it, I guess. I likey.

  • NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS
This is a great look.

One of the only teams that I don't mind them changing their pants. It's traditional. Keep with it!

  • NORTHWESTERN WILDCATS

For those of you who don't know, Northwestern invented the "Northwestern Stripe." Go fig'.
In their 2012 uni set they've decided to really showcase that. ALL AROUND THE JERSEY. I must admit I did not like it at first but it has really grown on me. I like it a lot, now, actually. Nice job, Smarties.
The purple and black (which I usually hate together) actually look good on this team. I'm impressed with the look of this football team. Now the logo?

There's just something about it I do not like. I can't put my finger on it but when I figure it out, you people will be the first to know.

They've actually "thickened it up" on the helmets this year. That improves it a lot. But, it's still too high. I try to like it, though. Really I do!

Well...  That's it for the B1G. Took awhile but I did it. Next up: The Big 12

So here goes...

THE BIG TEN

Leaders Division

  • ILLINOIS FIGHTING ILLINI

Really a pretty sharp uniform, in my opinion. EXCEPT for the weird "stripe" down the leg and the piping. It's obtuse. The navy and orange britches have to go, as well as the huge "ILLINOIS" on the lids. Soooo... in other words, not a sharp uniform after all. I guess what I am trying to say is there is a lot of potential here.

Also, why would you not put this beautiful logo on your helmet?:

See that logo? Now that's nice.

Keep trying, Sons of Illiniwek.

  • INDIANA HOOSIERS

Oh, man, are these sharp!

Very nice, traditional uniform. And I love the fact that you have one home and one away jersey. Deductions for the alternate helmets, though. And the logo? I like it. I do. But... I just can't help but think of a saguaro cactus every time I see it.

All in all., though.. NICE. Now, learn there are other sports than basketball.

  • OHIO STATE BUCKEYES

Really not much to say here. One of the best uniforms in the country.
SHARP.

  • PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS
Oh, Penn State. Oh, JoePa. Oh, crap. Oh, well...

These are really spectacular. So very traditional. The only thing changed this year are the names on the backs of the jerseys. It's to honor the players that stayed with the team. But, it just doesn't feel right, regardless. Great uniforms though. BEST IN THE B1G. (Almost in the nation... Almost)

  • PURDUE BOILERMAKERS

Well...

Looks like a circus to me.
Come on! The black shirts with the gold pants are best and I would say they were beautiful. Stick to them. But for Pete's sake, match the gold on the lids to the gold on the pants!!! Atrocious. For shame, Boilermakers.

  • WISCONSIN BADGERS

Hello, gorgeous. Nice threads.
I even like the logo but I prefer the old one:

It just looks classier.
But kudos, nonetheless!

Well, that the B1G Leaders Division. All in all a beautiful division.
Legends to follow, soon!

The Big East

Ok... So, it's been awhile. But, I'm back and breaking down the worst AQ BCS conference...

THE BIG EAST

  • CINCINNATI BEARCATS

Sigh...

The all black is atrocious. If you paired that black jersey with the white pants it would look OK. Now, the red jersey with the black pants are pretty awesome. However, the weird  "Bearcat" slash marks look stupid. Overall, not a bad look but they need major tweekage. And, the logo: while cool, does look an awful lot like a certain chicken eatery...

See? Too Arena Football League.

And guess what...?

Bearcats are real!!!  (pssst...that's a link...)

  • CONNECTICUT HUSKIES

Truly one of the best uniforms of the Big East. However, when they go blue on blue it just looks bad.

And, this is one of the best logos in all of college football.

Simple. Elegant. Classy.
Kudos, Uconn!

  • LOUISVILLE CARDINALS

Not bad! Not bad a'tall.
Cool little logo.
Don't get the piping around the shoulders, though. And I have seen red pants paired with the red jersey. That's a bad look.
But, really not a bad look OVERALL.

AHH! There they are! (WAIT! DARK BLUE PANTS ON NC???... Not bad, actually...)

  • PITTSBURGH PANTHERS

Not bad... Simple. Classy.

However, they did look better like this! (Dan didn't, though) No joke! I actually believe that! This is one of the few instances where something spelled out on a helmet is OK with me!

  • RUTGERS SCARLET KNIGHTS
Oh, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, you once were such a beautiful football team. But, alas, you went from this:

 To this:

Major downgrade. They truly had one of the best uniforms in all of college football and then they gave it up for this crap. Thoroughly disappointed. And, those helmets?

I get the whole knight's helmet thing but...darn...it just looks bad. You can't see it in this pic but the helmets carry "battle damage", as does the shoulders on the jerseys. So dumb. Puke.

  • SOUTH FLORIDA BULLS

Where to begin?
First of all, toooooo many uniform combos. Makes my head spin.
None of them are bad, per se, but the gold lid and pants with green jersey is the best. I can't stand the "stripes" on the shoulders. Obviously, this is meant to represent bull horns. Lame. All in all not a bad look, though.

  • SYRACUSE ORANGE
To begin, I liked "Orangemen" better. But, whatever.

Now, that's a good look. Very traditional. I like.

They wore a slightly different look against USC this year. Still looks good. But one should never replace stripes with piping. Just saying.

Good look!

  •  TEMPLE OWLS

I don't hate this uniform. It's pretty traditional, aside from the odd...dashes?...down the sides of the britches, which I still don't hate, just don't "get." Looks pretty good, though. Original and somewhat classy.

Now, a vacant stare from one of Temple's most famous alums:

And, there you have the Big East.

(Note: Syracuse and Pitt will be exiting the Big East for the ACC next year. While losing those two, The Big East will pick up Boise State, Navy and San Diego State in football only. Temple will join fully, not just in football but all sports. While Central Florida, Houston, Memphis, and SMU will join on a full time basis.)

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Well, let me begin by saying I know I was suppose to post yesterday. Sorry. Life gets in the way sometimes.
With that said, the ACC. Coastal Division.

Coastal Division

  • DUKE BLUE DEVILS

What's not to love about this uniform?!? The simplicity. The beauty. Totally well done.

But, as you can see there is an attempt to muddle up this classy, classy look. The alternate helmets are totally not needed. And the black? Sigh...

  • GEORGIA TECH YELLOW JACKETS
Here, there is potential. Overthink. Too much piping. Nice gold pants, though. I realize that GA Tech are one of only a few teams to wear white at home but TWO white jerseys? SIGH... A simple white jersey with those simple gold pants would do. Come on, guys! You're engineers! You can come up with something better! And the honeycomb jerseys and helmets?

Ridiculous. Can't even be seen on TV. Bad design. This truly is a rambling wreck.

  • MIAMI HURRICANES
Ugly. Plainly and simply... ugly. Overthink on hyperdrive.

The green and orange doesn't bother me to be honest. Like I said, to each their own. But what's up with all the stupid piping? BAD DESIGN. Go back to the way you looked in the 80's...

  • NORTH CAROLINA TAR HEELS
Nice. Very nice. Not much to say really

The only critique? The awful pant "stripes." Boo. Someone just screwed up an otherwise great design.

This white alternate is totally not needed.

  • VIRGINIA CAVALIERS

I don't hate theses uniforms. But I really think they should just stick to ONE HOME AND ONE AWAY but who am I, right?

These orange helmets? NO Virginia, there IS NOT a Santa Claus.

  • VIRGINIA TECH HOKIES
I'm really impressed with VA Tech and there beautiful uniforms.

Hate the white alternate but those stripes? Lookin' good... However, the orange makes the burgandy look purple. Good thing they haven't done something stupid like putting turkey feet on their helmets...

...oh Lord...

OK... That's it for the ACC. Starting IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS, the Big East!!
